Emma and Roland - Live Guitar Music

“Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar, save perhaps two.” - Frederic Chopin

Roland and Emma are a father-daughter guitar playing duo with a wide repertoire of family oriented music spanning the last 85 years.  Roland is a professional guitar teacher and Emma, a Grade 9 student, is already an experienced guitarist having played more than half her life.  They perform throughout Greater Vancouver on a weekly basis, and their audiences are as diverse as the music they play.    Over the past 3 years, their performances have been well received at local markets, city festivals, community events, seniors homes, as well as private functions.

Musically, Emma and Roland cover a lot of ground:  Beatles to Bing Crosby, Jazz Standards to movie soundtracks, as well as Country, Surf, and current pop songs.   Roland:  “For me, the only thing better than hearing one guitar is…two guitars.  We listen to a lot of different music and really enjoy performing; it’s great to see people’s responses as we play songs they know and maybe haven’t heard in a while.  It’s also fun to see their faces as they see and hear all this music come out of Emma’s fingers!”

In addition to performing, they released their first collaborative CD, a collection of holiday songs called Twelve Strings of Christmas in Nov 2015, and have just released their new album, 13 Summers, a 13 song collection of cover tunes.

If you’re wanting to be entertained by 12 strings and 4 hands, or require background music for your event or venue, please contact Roland.  He would be happy to discuss your requirements, accommodate special song requests, and work with you to make your event memorable.    He can be reached at rolandnipp@shaw.ca
